Maison Ocre

Set against the San Jacinto mountains, Maison Ocre plays with the contrast between blazing exteriors and cool, cave-like rooms. Earth-pigment plaster, travertine and woven rush keep the house grounded in its landscape.

We designed a family of low, sculptural pieces — a curved sofa, a travertine plinth table and rattan lounge chairs — that frame the views without competing with them.
